Our Lions Club is rather unique in that it is a breakfast club. We meet at 7.15am for 7.30am and our meetings last appoximately 1 hour. This format means members are able to get to work or other activities at a reasonable hour of the day. We are a small club - and looking to grow - but nonetheless our contribution to various charities and the community has been outstanding.
We particpate in many community events such as the Hurstville Mayoral Golf Day, the St George's Day Festival, the Oatley Festival and the Lugarno Spring Fair.
Last year we held our first 'Knit- In' which was so successful we have decided to make it an annual event.
Another annual event is the Jeans for Genes Breakfast. We have been running this event for the past 9 years and it always well received. The breakfast is always fun - delicious food, good raffle and excellent company.
August brings us to the Unity Walk for Parkinsons in a supporting role. An excellent avenue to raise funds and very imprtantly - awareness.
November sees us participating in the MS Bike Ride - again as support. Our fabulous members arrive before the ride enters the National Park and feeds the riders tasty bbq'd sausages to help them with their quest.
We visit local nursing homes at Christmas to sing carols and share Christmas cake and other goodies. (Friends and relatives welcome!!)
Although not large in number the Lions Club of St George has a proud history of providing assistance through practical and financial means when and where required and being richly rewarded in the feeling of being able to make a difference.
